Have been invited to a wedding in Barbados in July, but don't want to spend longer than a week on the island. Have a further two weeks to spare. Has anyone got any suggestions. Quite opened minded and don't mind 'roughing it'

Barbados is a fabulous Island nation! I absolutely adored it there!
They have some of the most fabulous beaches I have seen and they are well worth exploring! The island is one of the more modern, more stable, islands in my opinion. It's very industrialized as far as carribean nations go. By that I mean that it has more than travel for it's economy.
It's a former British colony is I remember correctly and also has some interesting historical sites to see.
If you chose to leave the isladn to spend the remainder of your vacation elsewhere. I personally would consider St. Maarten to the north or you might consider hopping over to a destination in S. America being it's so close!
