Help!
I travelled to the Dominican Republic last Nov 2003 and spent a great week there. We flew to Punta Cana and stayed in the Sirenis Cocotel Hotel just up from Macao Beach. At the airport waiting to check back in I realised that i had left some small personal belongings in the bedside cabinet. I told the Airtours Rep (lovely Zoe) and waited for good news - well ever the hopeful!
When I got back I discovered that Airtours apparently do not operate a Lost Property service at all. I rang theri customer Services Dept twice just to make sure that I heard what I thought I had. They person there then helpfully gave me the number of the min office for Airoutrs in Dom Rep. I called and was delighted to be told that they had indeed got my belongings! The chap ther also gave me the telephone number for the Airtours Lost Property Dept in the UK. I have been incontact with a lovely lady called Sue Pearce ever since. And believe me I have made many calls.
It now emerges that they cannot locate a Courier company that will handle my items of lost property due to the fact that there are a few small items of jewellery amongst them.
Can anyone out there let me know if there is a company or organisation which will bring back some small items such as this to the UK?? Perhaps there is even someone out there going there soon - it would have to be on the South East side of Dom Rep (the items are in the office in Higuey) to make it viable.
Meanwhile I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed!
