Am going to Cuba later this month. Rough guide offers travel insurance: BUT although (Cuba book p. 22) it states that the insurance is "for anyone, of any nationality and any age, anywhere in the world", they refuse to sell me any because I do not live in the UK. When I write to them direct, I just get an auto-acknowledgement, which is disappointing to say the least. The British Insurance Association (I think they are called) say that their members do not sell to people abroad. Which contracicts what Rough Guide prints. Any ideas?
And:what's the latest on currency in Cuba? I cannot bring Euros (or strling), since I only have ready access to the $US (which seems not such a good idea) and the East Caribbean Dollar, which is pretty unheard of. What currency do the little people on the streets who want to be your guide (or whatever) hope for?
