I have noticed that most islands are mentioned when it comes to traveling to the caribbean but what about Jamaica.

Has it lost its appeal or is that you don't know where to begin.

I notice that persons talk about Montego Bay (which is - in this Jamaican opinion - so very loud, so mainstream and so false) and Negril (love its laidback feel and spectacular sunset however getting a bit too expensive).

What about Treasure Beach remote, beautiful and tranquil?

What about Port Antonio famous with America's rich and noted for 18th century plantation buildings, good surfing and lush Robinson Crusoe surroundings,

and ocho Rios (great for families, climbing waterfalls and swimming with dolphins)

Tell me please............

Visit on a tight budget

Hi,

My fiance and I are travelling to Jamaica in December. We're planning on being at the Caves in Negril for 5 days, 2 days unknown, and 3 days at Goldeneye in Orcabessa.

Here's my question to you. For the unknown two days, I'd like to go off the beaten track and see the sights. I am interested in either Treasure Beach or Portland. However, we don't want to spend a lot of time in the car.

Can we fly between Negril and Ocho Rios? Negril and Port Antonio?

If you had to choose between Portland and TB, what would u choose?

Thanks!

We went to Treasure Beach as part of a Jamaica trip and can highly recommend it. It is a bit out of the way, but its quiet laid back charm and friendly people makes it a great contrast with the mainstream tourist areas.

Think about a boat trip from Treasure Beach up Black River to see alligators and out to Pelican Bar (a bar built by Floyd on a sand bank out at sea where you can eat fresh fish and drink a cool Red Stripe beer) - truly memorable.

see www.treasurebeach.net for lots of info about the area.www.treasurebeach.net
