On my fifth vacation in Havana I stayed at a Casa Particular.It is the most convenient location and the nicest most helpful couple that rent 3 rooms that open a very pretty patio with plants and set up like cafe with ice cream parlour tables and chairs umbrella and striped canopy over the doorway. It is a 4 or 5
minuet walk to Inglaterra Hotel anf new Telegrafo Hotel and borders on Old Havana and Centro Havana. This casa has a very welcoming and bright and happy ambiance I have not found previously. The rooms are large and freshly painted. The room rate is $25usa. You can keep your drinks in a frig in the dining room. Elsi prepares a good breakfast 2 kinds of sliced fresh fruit 2 large glasses of fruit juice , one orange other papaya, egg and ham a basket of fresh bread (Lazaro gets it early morning from bakery) a cup of hot milk and a espresso coffee all for $3. She also offered to prepare dinner but I always went out to eat dinner as my part of my entertainment. She was in the process of furnishing one large room to accomodate more than 2 people for those on a tighter budget... I helped her set up a bed. I can not say enough about her thoughtfulness. It was nice having big fluffy towels and decent china and especially friendly greeting when ever I met her. The other guests were
Europeen and friendly. The casas I had stayed in previously were all booked and I am happy the way it turned out.

I returned from Havana on Sunday and am still facinated with this exciting city. Again I stayed at the same casa, Casa Elsi y Lazaro and am happy to recommend it again. Lazaro or Ernesto who looks after the paperwork and greets guests can make arrangements for other accomodation at casa in the area if you are making last minuet booking and they are full.
