Discover East Cuba
I have just returned recently from exploring some of the beautiful areas of East Cuba such as the provinces of Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo. The most natural and awe inspiring places were certainly the Sierra Maestra mountains and the national parks. On the south coast the mountains reach right down to the Caribbean Sea and the coastal road which is great for a 4 x 4 adventure and especially if you drive down from the north over the mountain pass from the Parque Nacional. After reaching Santiago de Cuba another adventure awaits if you drive along the south east and east coast road to Baracoa, again here you will find more beautiful mountain areas as well as some nice beaches still untouched by mass tourism. You can pick-up a self-drive 4 x 4 at a start point such as Bayamo or Holguin and drop-off at another city when you have concluded your journey. You should find more information on the website www.cubaselecttravel.co.uk. I plan to return to the east again as there is so much more to discover. Happy journeys. |

The Sierra Maestra mountains are truly breath-taking. I just regret not going to the Cuban beaches.
