I'm planning on trying to be in Jamaica for the semi-final of the cricket world cup next April. The match will be at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Can anyone tell me where would be practical places on the island to stay outside of Kingston in order to be able to travel on the day of the game there and back, or of any hostel details where I could find accomodation in Kingston itself (am backpacking and hence on a budget).

Also does anyone have any information on the Homestay arrangements they have at that time.

Thanks for any info anyone can give - would like to try and get this sorted asap as obviously there will be lots of people all vying for accomodation at that time.

Rich.

Hi there

I'm afraid there aren't any hostels as such in Kingston. There are some very cheap places downtown, but they're pretty horrid. You cYour best bet would be either Mikuzi (www.mikuziresorts.com); ignore the website, there are some very cheap rooms here and it's really nice. The other option is Leighton House, but it's right over the other side of the city from Sabina. I don't have the contacts with me, but you should be able to get them via a google search.

The tourist board aren't much good, but they *might* have info on homestays.

Have a great time!

You may like to stay with Rasta Mokko. He lives in the next parish over from Kingston (St. Thomas) and has accomadations for guests on backpacker's budgets. This probably would not work between games (which might be what you are asking) but could be cool downtime before or after the matches are held.
Roots Rasta

Hope this is helpful.
