have travelled successfully with your india guide i have two suggestions for your next edition:
tell people to go to this little restaurant in udaipur called the red herring. it is at 8 panna dhai marg and it is the most marvelous spot we were at. no touristy stuff, a secluded and lush garden on the banks of the only lake with water left in it, antique wooden benches everywhere and everynight the enormous black bats fly low over the tables as they feast on the lake bugs. i think i went to this restaurant seven times.
tell people not to go to diu. it is a beautiful island off the southcoast of gujarat but while gujarat is dry, meaning alcholol is illegal, diu is union territory so alcohol is available. the men travel from all over gujarat to get drunk there and from eight o'clock in the morning onwards, they lurch about the beach, vomitting, and groping at western women. because it is not a drinking culture, the men behave like a group of teenagers who found the key to their parents liquor cabinet. it is a horror.
Hello Jeremy, your message is from 2002. I was in Udaipur years ago and I loved this restaurant. Was it still run by 2 brothers in 2002? If yes, did you take photographs of their family and would you send them to me? That would be a wonderful memory. Kind regards, LovingIndia
