The details for renting a motorbike in Chennai (Madras) need to be updated.
After a very long search around the town I finally discovered that Urent have moved to the other end of town.

They are now at: 1st Main Road, Gandhinagar, Adyar, Chennai 600020 Phone: 24910838

If you want a motorbike then URent only offer Royal Enfield Bullets at 400 rupees a day. (Which I feel is a rip off) They also seem to do Kinetic Honda scooters at about 150 rupees a day.

I did however find that there is an alternative.

Barani Motors, 12 Periyar Road, T.Nagar, Chennai, 600017. Mr. Murthy on 9841009977 is very helpful.
They have a number of 100cc motorbikes for between 100-150 rupees a day. They make you fill out a form and ask for two contact number but the bike does come with insurance and is taxed which is more than you get when you rent in Goa!

I hope that this is useful and if you do rent remember to wear a helmet!

The above described charachter, Mr.Murthy is the most unscrupulous bike vendor I have ever come across. I had confirmed all the documentation required and availability of vehicles 4 days ahead of reaching chennai. But yet me managed to keep me waiting till the 11th hour, without even taking my calls, with total disregard for my time and engagement and finally refusing to give the bike on a silly excuse that he wanted me to have a govt. id proof with a chennai address. I had told him quite in advance that I was from Trivandrum and that the id proof I would give would be my tvm driving license. Every subsequent call saw him increase the terms and deposit amount and finally refusing to give the bikes on a silly excuse. It was a different fact that he had given away the bike to someone else violating my booking. But then, atleast he could have let me known in advance so that I could have atleast reached my appointment in time. Never trust this soul!
