Obviously you were jet lagged when you visited the Sunshine Coast of BC because as one of many expats. who now live on the Coast I did not recognise the area as described in your 5th edition of "Canada". Just a few points: 1. the first native band to achieve self government - visit their museum in Sechelt, 2. Gibsons is the site of filming of the internationally viewed "Beachcombers", 3. in the Caran Range we have some amazing old growth forrest, 4. the Coast has more artists per km. of all types, some world famous, than any other area in BC if not Canada, 5. "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and, in my not so humble opinion, this is one of the most beautiful areas in North America, 6. having lived both in Toronto, Nova Scotia and Kingston On. I find that the locals are the most welcoming and polite I have met as a group and they are certainly more pleasant than many very rude and self centered Brit. holiday makers who we occasionally meet here. This is only a very brief picture of MY Sunshine Coast. This is a strong and very frank critique of your book but I feel that someone has to address the balance.
