on a trip through tamil nadu we visited pondicherry - bizarre former-french colony on east coast of couth india. expecting fabulous french food we went to the 'top' restaurant as recommended by the RG: SATSANGA. The evening was a complete disaster, with lukewarm food arriving after 2 hours, a bill that included items we hadn't ordered and some we had ordered but had never arrived.
the french owner was rude to the point of insanity and the entire party was completely shocked by the whole occasion. please don't go to this restaurant. it was the worst night out and by far the worst food i have ever eaten.

You must not have come on a good night Alice because of all my travels in India, I'd say it was the best food I had !

I agree "garlic"! I stayed in Pondy for quite a few months and it's really the best place around. I recommend anyone passing through to go have dinner there at least once - and usually people come back more than once!
