hey, im going to university of western sydney for 6 months in july and staying in campbelltown, ive been told this is a complete shithole and wanted to know if anyone has been there?
also where are the best bars and clubs in Sydney?? thanks a lot guys!

I'm afraid the news isn't good - Campbelltown is a long way from where IT happens in Sydney. Two choices - make do and hang out at the Leagues Clubs or the long multiple train journey to Sydney Central.(not to mention the extortionate return taxi fare.)
As you are only there for six months I suggest hanging out in the western suburbs. Try going to Parramatta! There are about five major sattelite cities in the west, all of which party hardy. So don't worry - you may be miles from the sights, but there is still plenty of nightlife out there.

Penrith is not too far from Campbelltown and there are quite a few places to rage there especially the Panthers Footy Club on the Nepean River. Other than that there is not much else to do out there, unless you have transport then you can go bushwalking/hiking or travel down to the southern highlands which is also pretty groovy.
