was just wondering if anybody has any tips on the best/cheapest way of getting out to Uluru. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

assuming u are heading out to the rock from Alice Springs, most people catch a bus, 500km, 5hr ride, most leave in the early morning as part of an insane hellish 18hr round trip day tour, you can get off at Yulara where all the hotels and thousands of tourists are, Ayers Rock is another 20 odd k away, again another bus ride but plenty of backpackers drive out every day from the campground at Yulara(and from Alice- signs are up in the hostels all the time), flights from Sydney or Adelaide are not that bad in price, really scenic and land about 30km from the rock, i lived and worked there for a year, getting there is half the fun, but the destination is as good as the journey, enjoy!
