western beach lodge is a brilliant friendly place at scarborough beach run by a guy called Mal, I spent christmas and new year there and had a fantastic time. It is clean, there is a choice of male/female/mixed dorms and double rooms, several bathrooms and a lounge room and kitchen and was about 5aus dollars a night. Most people hung around for weeks.

Hi,

There is a great hostel in Fremantle south of Perth. It is called the old firestation and you are bound to hear the name pop up a couple of times on your way to Perth as it is pretty well established on the Westcoastroute. Another option is the centrally located "the Globe", facilitywise the place sucks big time, but the atmos is allright, a good partyplace anyway, and more importantly pretty cheap. (94$ a week one year ago now.)
