hi, im travelling to Lillydale, australia to study at Melbourne uni this summer. I cant find any information about it so was wondering if anyone could tell me about the place, is it nice???

Hi Bev,

Wow, I'm really jealous that you are staying in Lilydale while studying! Lilydale lies on the outskirts of the Dandenongs National Park - a place of natural beauty overlooking the Melbourne suburbs.

The Dandenongs are Victoria's equivalent of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales except without the endless tour coaches. Be sure to visit William Ricketts Sanctuary (see my journal on this destination) and if you travel a little further up Highway 34 (away from Melbourne) you'll find Healesville Sanctuary - an animal park in an idyllic setting.

If you travel a bit further again you will hit a stretch of wineries, the most famous being that of Chandon (of Moet fame).

I'm sure you'll have great time!
