I am going to NZ in a couple of weeks for 2 months and looking to hire campervan. Has anyone else seen/used these spaceships? Have a look at http://www.spaceships.tv/features.php They look odd but do they work, the prices seem reasonable and I like the sound of the DvD player. Any thoughts or better suggestions please. Cheers.
We saw a few around whilst going round NZ in Nov/Dec. They looked pretty small, but I guess looks could be deceiving!
We went with Wicked Campers. They're an Aussie company who've only recently started up in NZ. The vans are basic, but comfy, and given the quality and quantity of decent campsites accross the country we didn't really need anything with all 'mod cons'. We paid around NZ$70 p.n.
They've got offices in Christchurch and Auckland, and I think you can book on-line, although you may need to call them to get more info for NZ www.wickedcampers.com.au
If you do decide to go with them, specify that you want a van with windows that open - some of them (i.e. 'Bruce Lee'- the one we almost ended up with) don't!
Hope that helps! V :)

we also hired a Campervan while touring New Zealand but having a look inside a Spaceship i have to say that it would be too small for me. You basically have no room to move and the bed is very small as well. You can extend the back of it but then after touring New Zealand and finding out that there is a lot of wind i would not recommend this really.
We hired a BEDMOBIL Campervan at www.bedmobils.com and it was absolutely great. Lots of Space, all Equipment you need and we saved a lot of money in fuel costs driving a diesel.
Diesel is much cheaper in New Zealand then Petrol - Tip !
but you are definitely on the right track hiring a Camper as it is the best way to discover this beautiful country.
I dont know about spaceships but these guys are great, Escape campervans We had an amazing time travelling with them, no hassles or isuues. This is our entry into their photo comp my entry. Botton second from the right. We didnt win though!! Be sure to go with these guys, they have newish vehicles, really cool art and really spend time with you planning your holiday.
