i recently did I did the bone carving workshop with Stephan, near Nelson, through Creative Tourism. It was such a wonderful day, we got to create our own amazing bone carving from design through to polishing! And Stephan was very knowledgeable about the history and cultural significance of this fascinating craft. I wear my carving everyday and get so many comments - people are amazed i made it myself! I highly recommend creative tourism, it so nice to do something different to the standard tourist trail, and you get a lovely souvenir to take home too! Creative Tourism do loads of other great workshops - go to http://www.creativetourism.co.nz/

hey there,
just published my own little note about creative tourism and found you had done so, too!
that's really cool- tell me more about it once you get the chance. have you done anything else besides the bone carving?
i agree, the tutors are really knowledgeable about their specific craft. i made the same experience over harakeke (flax) weaving, which makes me see the plant and its cultural significance in a new light. a great way to connect, really!
