Although Trailfinders & STA Travel do travel insurance has anyone came across any independent firms who offer the same deals as the big firms but at lower prices.

I got my backpacker insurance from insure and go. I thing the website is www.insureandgo.com. They where much cheaper than STA and Trailfinders and I waiver the access. I think is cost about £230 for 12months.

I use World Nomads on my many trips as they allow extensions and claims online, which is handy, as I'm often away on long trips. They are underwritten by Allianz, so they should be OK, although I have never had to make a claim against them (yet).
