hey

has anyone travelled NZ or OZ on the big green buses?? what are your thoughts?
are the activities/trips worthwhile? is it expensive? is it one big party?

im a female going travelling solo for the first time, so was thinking of them as an option.
thanks :)

i was travelling around new zealand last year as a solo female. when i arrived i was quite nervous and did the kiwi experience, to meet poeple and to get my barings. but i ended up only doing it through the north island. i found it very quick, you don't really get to see much of the country as there is always a time limit. it is a party bus too, but not too massively party party! the activities are good, but you end up doing them all and spending all your money! travelling in new zealand alone as a girl is so easy, everyone is friendly and interested in what you are up to. when you are alone you meet a lot of people easily as well.
i hope i have helped,
have fun, enjoy.

Oz experience gets very mixed reviews. DONT buy a pass before you travel - I'd give them a try on a shortish stretch first 'cos you won't get your money back if it turns out that you don't like them. Plus once you arrive in oz you might not want to be tied in to their schedule

Hi I did the oz experience and would not recommend it. It did not give you the time or deal's that were worthwhile and the worse indiuviduals seemed to be on the bus. I would definately take up with awesome adventures or book a peter pan tour when you get out there so much cheaper and just use the regular coach between towns much cheaper and quicker. You will make friend on the trips I've mentioned. However in New zealand the bus system is not as convenient so car hire is advisable or look at the notice boards and catch a lift with other travellers in hostels! You will have an amazing time I did!
