just curious, is new zealand worth the extra money if we're already going to be in the area (australia)? someone said that it's pretty vast & if you're just backpacking and in a hostel you don't really get to see too much, so i wasn't sure if the 2 weeks we'd be there would be beneficial. the thing is, if we werent doing new zealand we would be able to take air pacific with a free fiji stopover. however, once we said we wanted new zealand they had to change our flight to air canada & quantas which doesnt offer a free stopover in fiji...so that means we have to pay $100 for the fiji stopover & $100 for new zealand. i know thats still pretty good, but it adds up, that's an extra $400 for the 2 of us, which basically would pay for our 2 weeks staying in the village in fiji. i think i'm just worring about too much haha.
$400 is not gonna get u two weeks in a fijian village, i came back from a 2 week stay this year in the 'off-season' and must have spent at least $150 a day(New Zealand dollars that is)and i consider myself a bit of a skinflint... don't plan out so much, go have an adventure!

definitly worth it! I've spent time in both NZ and Oz. Love NZ, especially Bay of Islands, Taupo and Queenstown. If its only for a few weeks (not really long enough) Magic bus does good packages.
