Hi all,

I am currently trying to sort out my plans for when I graduate, and could really do with some advice.

I am definitely going to the ashes starting mid-November 2006 to mid Jan 2007. I have been thinking about going over to Oz a few months before to work. Which City do people think is the best all round (cheap, loads of bar jobs, great night life, etc)? I am probably going on my own so bar work would be the best way to meet people.

Also, what are the best areas in each city?

Any help would be much appreciated.

i have done bar work and waitering all over oz, really easy to get work! in Sydney lived and worked in Manly(of course, i'm a kiwi), but lots of backpackers do the Rocks/Newtown thing as well, Melbourne has loads of bars in Pahran and Brunswick, and i worked in St Kilda... Brisbane is a little harder to find jobs in, but the resorts of Northern Queensland and Cairns namely usually have stuff going... try to avoid Adelaide and the Alice & Tassie for hospitality work, but i drove right round from Perth to Darwin and found employment easily... i dunno, maybe others would disagree, but this is what i found. Just look fresh, awake, well presented, no problem! Good luck
