Our family of four will be going to Cairns. Most of the places of
interest are quite costly such as the hot-air balloon ride, the
Kuranda adventure, and tandem parachuting. Are there any places of
interest we can go to that are less costly and still fun?

Unfortunately, Cairns is not the ideal destination for a cheap family holiday - it is better known for being a playground for the rich and very rich! In my opinion, if you want to do something that the whole family can do together, then save your pennies and head for the Skyrail. You can buy a package whereby you can take the Skyrail one way and catch the Kuranda train back again. This package includes transfers to and from your accommodation in Cairns and is only $220 or £86 for the whole family. Take it from me the Skyrail in particular, is a trip of a lifetime and a memory the whole family can share.
Kuranda has long been a must-do in Cairns and seeing is believing!
