Te Puna Wai
First of all, upon arrival, the lodge’s hosts, James and Richard, gave me a whole new understanding of the word welcome. By the time I began settling into my room, I felt as though I were visiting a couple of long lost relatives. They were that genuine, that warm, that accommodating, without ever being in the least bit intrusive. When they asked me if they could get me anything else, I told them, “I simply could not be happier”, and I really meant it: Characterful bathroom complete with claw foot tub and organic rainforest toiletries; mini fridge stocked with complementary beverages including local beers and a nice bottle of sparkling wine; feather duvet; gorgeous fresh flowers, a writing desk piled with informative and artful literature on Nelson and its vicinity; an entire bookshelf stocked with fascinating hardcovers … Amazing! Noting my euphoria, they reminded me, “You haven’t even seen where you are!” And, boy, was I in for a surprise. I’ve got to tell you, I have looked out upon pristine turquoise waters, rugged coastlines, gorgeous cityscapes … the Himalayas for crying out loud, but the view I discovered upon raising my window shade took my breath away and left me speechless. No superlatives could do it justice. As gorgeous as the property and the view appear in the literature and on-line (tepunawai.co.nz), the reality blows it away. Breakfast turned out to be a sumptuous affair in the European style: silverware, crystal, starched linen, fine cheeses, fresh breads, just cut organic fruit salad, eggs prepared to order, fine French-roasted coffee, and just about anything else one might have requested. Enjoying all this surrounded by the flower-filled, green grounds of Te Puna Wai, with a view to infinity, was simply exquisite. One could not ask for a more beautiful way to awaken and face the day. The only thing I have not mentioned is the ineffable air of romance that pervades the place. At Te Puna Wai, the blossoming or renaissance of love is practically a foregone conclusion. It is nothing short of magical. I urge you to tell your readers about this special little lodge because. For all that it has to offer, its prices are eminently reasonable --- a steal even. And I guarantee, the more discerning the clientele, the more unforgettable will be their experience. Thank you for your time and attention. |

At NZ$160-260 a night, I certainly hope it was as fantastic as you're advertising. There are other accomodations in the Nelson area with equally spectacular views that charge about $25.
