Hi Cottec1,
Would you consider staying in a local village? If so, I would definitely recommend it to keep costs down while in Fiji - as well as getting the best value for money - I think it is about F$60/day (includes everything). There are a lot of villages with homestay options in Viti Levu and Yasawa Islands...you can see all the villages which have homestays at these maps - if you click on a village it will tell you all about it and what to expect. http://www.fijibure.com/map.htm (Viti Levu) http://www.fijibure.com/yasawa.htm (Yasawas) You can learn heaps about the local communities at these websites also - here is site map also http://www.fijibure.com/site.htm Even if you decide to stay in a hotel I would recommend having a read because its got loads of info on buses, taxis, weather, travel hints, fijian culture, recipes, etc etc Also, i don't know if you've heard of village homestays before but they're totally different from your normal tourist experience, you get access to remote places in fiji only available to locals, you stay in bures not big dorms with heaps of other tourists, etc... Good luck Sarah |

the royal hotel on Ovalau (think that's how's it's spelt) was only about $11 a night. in a three bed dorm... oldest hotel in fiji, plenty of character.
