Does anyone know the level of damage in Penang caused by the Tsunami? There are conflicting views in the press and official websites, the 'official' websites are very positive and say all is OK now, I'm sceptical and fly out in a week - if anyone has some news please let me know as my tour operater says it's OK and as such I lose all my money if I decide not to travel!

If I do decide to go out, does anyone know contact details for aid agencies that may want a hand from willing volunteers for a few weeks? I would feel happier going out there doing something useful to help the unfortunate victims/survivors rather than having my holiday, even if it meant travelling to mainland Malaysia each day. I don't have medical or engineering skills but am a hard worker who would do anything and I am good at organising / planning.
