For those of you traveling to southern Thailand, I suggest checking out the Koh Ra Eco-lodge. It is just west of Kuraburi in Phang Nga Province, a small island (about the size of Koh Tao) virtually uninhabited and with little development other than the lodge.

Set up in intact jungle, it has a series of beautiful bungalows made from natural materials. There is a large sala and restaurant on the sandy beach coastline.

Great place to see undisturbed wildlife like hornbills, macaque, slow loris, water monitor, white-bellied sea eagle, etc...

They offer many ways to explore the area from diving and snorkeling trips near and around Koh Ra (including the Surins), sea kayaking, hiking and bird watching, visiting local communities, and the opportunity to participate in ongoing ecological monitoring projects. It is the home base for Reef Check Thailand as well.

The lodge is run with sustainable practices and emphasis on minimal impact in a pristine environment. You can explore a variety of habitats from coral reefs, mangrove forest, jungle, and sandy beaches.

Check out the website at www.thaiecolodge.com

Happy Traveling!
