You seem to be an "interesting guy", and you've obviously spent a lot of time in India- I wonder if you can help.

I'm going to be in the south - kerala etc - in September.
I know this is smack in the middle of the monsoon.
I want to know how much of a problem people think this really is.

Guidebooks are a bit off putting, but several people i've spoken to have just said - it's hot and humid, then it pours down, then it's hot and sunny again.

What's the deal?
Are there any specifc places (beaches etc) that are off limits in the Monsoon?

Cheers, all.

i'm wondering if there's a place you know of anywhere in india where one can go for a week or two and live simply, meditate, not speak, etc. like a temple or retreat?

Hi

I'm going to india for the first time this winter but will only have a fortnight.

We'll be going sometime between oct and dec. definitely want to spend some time in kerala but would like to also see a little of the rest (culture, temples, wildlife, scenery)

not knowing a lot about the different regions i'm feeling completely overwhelmed!

any advice appreciated.

many thanks

Hi Kerala , goa and coastal Karnataka is a nceic eplace and also better then lots of places in Inda that you have hears. There may be some people with whom you have to be careful..
just for few dollers some one may snatch the passport.
Usually people are very nice and helpful but there are always some roadside,, prblems.

regarding men,, it depends on whom you meet..
I have visited cochin, in kerala, goa and almost all the places in coastal Karnataka actually it is untouched beaches are real nice.. Since it is not much devoloped it is very nice.

jacqi..october is a spring season in most part of india soo u will be escaping the heat with winters to follow .
if u wana vist temples then south india is a good place for a visit though rajasthan is alsoa good place if u wana see temples ...if u wana see the christian churches then goa the best place with beautiful beaches.
if u wana see wildlife sancturies
then place around kerala got good sancturies and scenaries but north east of india got the best of sancturieswith strong tribal cultures ..recently friend's of mine came from states they went to laddakh its one of the best places to get a look at buddhist culture well.its advisable to chalk ur trip carefully its better to visit few places and explore that area....hope u will be enjoying ur stay if need any more information more ur welcome.
