Hello, My wife and I just returned from an amazing 2 wk holiday in northern Vietnam. On a lead from the Lonely Planet Guide, we booked an eight day excursion with Ethnic Travel in Hanoi up to northeast VN. It was incredible and the highlight of our trip. With our guide and driver, we had a total immersion in Vietnamese village and town life. Each day, we would be invited into people's homes in the villages to share tea, a meal or spend the night! It was an amazing exposure to how people live in their small, traditional villages. We speant a day with a family during a Shamanic ritual in their house; helped make a thatch roof; helped grind corn, etc. Our guide's genuine love for his country and its rich culture was touching. We also did a 2 day trip to Bai Tu Long with them. I whole heartedly recommend Ethnic Travel for anyone looking for a N. VN tour off the beaten path!
