I am going to India on Jan 4th. I was planning to go down to south India.
What are the effects in Kerala? The newspaper Times of India reported 120 dead there so there should be some damages. I hear that the backwaters in Kerala were unaffected but what about beach cities like Kovalam and Varkala. Tamil Nadu have suffered heavy damage and I will stay away from the costal areas there. But is there any change inland e.g. is it difficult to travel there because of refugees from the costal areas etc. |

I have just recieved a mail from a friend who is staying at Varkala. Varkala was missed but the beach has been closed for a couple of days due to fears of an aftershock. The cliff is unaffected with business as usual.Trivandrum and Kollam were apparantly hit but she has limited information herself. Have fun in Varkala it is beautiful.
