Hi, My partner and I are currently organising a holiday over to Cambodia, Vietnam and possible Laos, for at the end of the year. We are planning on travelling for 3-4 weeks and we both have minimal travelling experience. After going to many travel agents and finding out about all of the different things to see in each of the countries, we are just wondering if anyone has any advice for us in terms of travelling advice over their or any recommonded sites to visit.
After Cambodia and Vietnam, I would like to introduce a place call Bario highlands inthe heart of Borneo where I am currently live and stay. We organise jungle trekkings in the wild rain forest of Borneo, river safari and wild life watching in the wild rainforest of Borneo.
If you've visited various travel agents i guess they will have given you all teh standard advice. What sort of extra advice are you after. The following is a good site for info on Cambodia - Cambodia Info

We went to Cambodia last November and loved it. I would have a look at when the Water Festival is this year - the date is tide-specific and so changes. If you can fit that into your timetable you will get to experience an amazing festival spirit which attracts Cambodians from all over the country with loads of boat races by day and lit-up water floats by night. Festivities happen in Siem Riep and Phnom Penh.
There is a distinct tourist trail triangle of Siem Riep (Angkor Wat), Phnom Penh and Sihoukaville (beaches) with pretty good travel connections. We also went up North to Banlung but travelling outside of the tourist trail takes time - internal flights can save days!
I am travelling to vietnam and cambodia next year, but am not too sure where to start in vietnam, would like it to be somewhere, where i can sort myself out, meet other travellers etc..

My girlfriend and I just spent three days at a really great homestay near Kompong Cham. It is run by an American and cambodian couple and the food is really excellent. This is a must do for those people who want to better understand a very complicated culture. For more information go to rana-cambodia.blogspot.com
