I have just read about Goa and think that maybe Candolin may be good. But I see that I am three months late in replying to your request for info. Did you find anywhere nice, as I am visiting Goa in Feb. I fancy somewhere chilled out with a pool, but socialable, as am travelling on my own. Hope you had a good time.

Hello fiagia,
My first stop is Bombay, arrive late on 9th Feb. I am only in India for 16 days before I fly on to Hong Kong.
For the India bit I shall be on my own, so would welcome any company. I thought I would head straight down to Goa as anticipate may have a bit of a culture shock in Bombay and thought I could ease myself in gently by heading down to the beach! Then on the way back maybe take in more of the culture.
It would be good to hear from you, especially if you are wanting travel company!
I don't know much about the area, but thought that Candolim looked like a good place to start.
Cheers for now,
Sean

Hi Folks,

It's Candolim, not Candolin, by the way! Four years ago it was lovely and relatively unspoilt compared to Calangute further up the road and Baga. But I now hear ominous reports of banana boats, parasols, paragliding etc etc. Still it's cheap and still rather quaint, I believe.

My tip would be to go further south. The further down you go in Goa the nicer/quieter/unspoilt the beaches. Do not miss Palolem beach (fairly near the border with Kerala). Stay in the little beach huts for a night or two. Fabulous! Beautiful sunrises/sunsets, good food, white sand and peace.

Hi! Don't worry about the culture shock. You get used to a new country and its look and ways in a few hours. A Belgian friend of mine who loves India was describing how she brought her boyfriend on his first trip and they landed at night and he was horrified to see people sleeping on the pavements. She said, "For me, it was normal!"
I was just thinking...instead of Goa, maybe you'd like to chill out in a lovely place in the mountains in the north of the country about which I've posted a message. Read it for yourself.
Have fun!
Yana
