I am going to Thailand a week tomorrow for just over 2 weeks...the last week of the trip was going to be in the south of thailand relaxing on th ebeaches...we had planned to visit Koh Phi Phi, Krabi & Phuket but due to the tsunami we decided to look for other beachy destinations in Thailand...Whilst searching we found out that Koh Samui is now so busy tourists are having to sleep on the beach as their is no accomodation available & the other beachy areas wouldn't have enough to do in 7 days...Although i like chilling a week of just sitting would bore me! lol

So my mam & I investigated & we're now going on a 7 day tour in Cambodia instead...something very different to the Thai Beaches but interesting & enjoyable all the same...also gives me an excuse to go back to Thailand for the beachy areas another time! :D

Hi there. if you were looking for some nice relaxing places by a beach, then Samui probably isn't the best place to go. Yes, it's certainly busy right now but there are places to stay. It's just the better ones that are full.
If you're now going to Cambodia, you could still travel overland back through Thailand and stop at Ko Chang near the Cambodia border. This island is much more relaxed than Samui or Phuket, has good beaches and has some very cool spots to hang out.
