Although this may sound like a stupid question to ask but how much money should i take on a trip to asia?-
Im hoping to travel next year for 6 months around june and i know that prices vary from place to place but i could do with just a rough idea so i can start saving. I meen how much would a bog standard hostel or hotel cost in that part of the world?. I havent a clue. Im sure accomodation alone for 5 months would be expensive. But then again ive heard that you can travel on next to nothing-although i dont see how... would i be ok on a coulple of grand??? Hope you can help THANX... |

Go to your library, check out some travel guides. Rough Guide and Lonely Planet do the best job for budget travel. The costs will vary a bit from the book (data was collected months before publication) but generally will be approximately correct.
My experience is that I can travel in lots of SEA places such as Thailand, Myanmar, Laos... for about $300 per month. Private room, ususally with private bath, public transportation, 3 meals a day (seldom at 'tourist' resturants), not a lot of beer/club time. India and Nepal are even cheaper. |
