i've planned an around the world trip with three other girls, but as its getting closer to us leaving we are all wanting to go to different places so i'm thinking of going on my own. i would like any advice for a woman travelling alone especially for my first stop in mexico city then i travel up to LA. after that i go to new zealand, australia, singapore, malaysia and thailand. i'm going in feb 2003 and if anyone has any adive that would be great.

This is a little late - just found this web site - but my advice is do both. Plan your trip with the other girls - but dont plan all of your time. I have traveled to Europe on my own and with a group and if I do it again - a mix of that would be perfect. Sometimes other people whi dont want to do what I want to do bug me and I want to go off on my own - for a day or more. But then there are some times - especially at night in strange places where there may be language barriers - being a single woman can be a little scary and you may find yourself wanting company.

I'm planing a tour in Malaysia. I will be going to penang n langkawi. penang is a beautiful historical town n has nice beach. Langkawi is known for the sea n it's an island. If u dont mind u can join me. I'm going to drive there and i have free accomodation in both the places.
