i'm heading to Madagascar for a few weeks, have put a few posts up for travel buddies, both men & women have responded.

Do you think it would be safe meeting unknown males who post? would you feel comfortable meeting them? any experiences/stories to share? i don't want to be cynical, but it's only common sense to consider that there might be predatory types out there. i'd be so grateful for any advice/opinions on this one!

I organised a ski trip through www.pistepals.com a site i set up for getting groups together. Our group consisted of 4 guys and 4 girls and it was absolutely fine.

Having said that - two of them got hit with a nasty virus and were in bed most of the time!

I would definitely meet them if you can (well lit public place) and also see if they've got a bebo or facebook as you will be able to see how weird they are from that (maybe?) ie get an idea if they've got lots of female friends or maybe they are loners...worth a try...
