Is it safe for women to travel alone in Portugal? I'll be in Lisbon for a few nights then will travel to Porto and stay there for another few nights. Any input appreciated.
We were there one weekend in October 2004 - two women - and we felt safe. After dark we stayed on the main streets and on public transportation. There were lots of people out until almost midnight. Lisbon is beautiful. Just stay aware and use your street smarts as you would in any large city.
